About Our Practice

gwen-portrait-ceg_0603

Gwen Brehm is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who is best known for being practical and effective in helping others overcome compulsive behaviors such as lying, hurting themselves or others, and anxiety driven actions. Her approach can guide you to healthier relationships and improve your mood and the quality of life.

I utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy in treatment.  I have been treating individuals and families for over 25 years, helping them to achieve the greatest potential for their lives.

What is different about my approach as opposed to other therapists?

People who choose to see me are seeking more than just traditional psychotherapy.   As a trained therapist, I possess many skills that assist individuals in overcoming their problems as well as improving their relationships and functioning.  In addition, it is my philosophy that people should do more than just survive, they should thrive.  Therefore I include Mind Body Medicine and mindfulness techniques in my treatment that not only increase the success of psychotherapy but help people move to a higher dimension of growth and healing.  These skills are taught and practiced in individual therapy as well as in groups. Research studies have shown recently that just thinking yourself into a new way of feeling and acting is not assisting people who have tough, serious chronic problems.  Other adjustments need to be made. Therefore, in my practice I incorporate alternative forms of treatment that include meditation, mindfulness, and other forms of spiritual experience. In addition, I develop behavioral plans for adults and children that help with making necessary behavioral changes. Assistance with nutritional needs, exercise, and alternative health care is also available through other providers connected with this center.

With these additions, the people that participate in our services are finding a greater improvement in their lives and relationships. They are happy and successful once again! If you want a better life, we can help you reach your goals in a compassionate and effective treatment environment.

Our Mission

It is our desire to provide you with compassionate care in a comfortable environment.  We try to go out of our way to ensure your confidentiality, and make every attempt to provide you with the quality of care that you deserve as you walk on this journey towards growth and healing.
